"The Night Of The Doomsday Formula" was an episode for clowning and Irving Moore had his hands full. Fortunately, Irv was the kind of guy who enjoyed a good gag. The hour was late and time was running out. In the movie industry, when the bewitching hour hits, a wrap is a must or the cost is prohibitive. We needed one more shot; a shot of Agent West taking suction cups from one of the hidden pockets of his tight-fitting jacket and after applying them to his hands, begin pulling himself slowly up the inside duct of a dark vent.

The camera rolled and Irv was watching the clock as well as Bob's every move, as Bob went through the motions of his difficult climb. We were just minutes away from going into double-time and Irv was anxious. Then, deviating from the script, Bob stopped in the middle of his climb and, supposedly holding onto just one of the suction cups, looked around in the darkness. It was a nice added touch... until he reached into his jacket and brought out a trick candle on a candlestick that immediately lit itself and the area around him. Suffice it to say, the crew cracked up while lrv went nuts.
