Whenever the opportunity presented itself, I was exhilarated with small chats with Ross. Ross was as different from Bob as a person can get and on the show that difference in the two men complemented one another; a combination that helped make the show work. As individuals, Bob was probably the most intelligent "street smart" person I'd ever met and very physical. Ross, on the other hand, was an extremely intelligent person but was, I believe, far from "street smart" and in no way, a physical person. I say that with all the love and respect one man can have for another.

Ross could speak several languages fluently, was full of life, pleasant to talk to, always ready to offer advice if asked for, and a very astute actor. Ross was as adept a thespian as Bob was an athlete. Of this, you can be sure. Ross was also a very talented artist but unfortunately, would leave behind just six paintings for Olavee to show their friends.

One of the things that showed another side of Ross happened when I visited him in his beautiful new home. This home was Ross Martin, personified. It was a home, not only beautifully decorated but it was comfortably decorated It has mementos of his profession, elegantly located.

Nothing in the home seemed to be overly done or left unfinished. There was nothing pretentious nor boastful, just honest and artful. A good carpenter with a hammer and nails can build a nice HOUSE, but it takes a good heart to build a HOME. Ross had a beautiful HOME.

As Ross showed me around his new home, his eyes suddenly lit up as though remembering something important he wanted to share with me.

"Cang, I met the most wonderful girl last night..." Ross started to say.

"You're going to marry her," I interrupted.

Somewhat surprised at my statement, Ross looked at me for a second.

"You're nuts. I just met her. I don't even know the girl."

"Ross. You're going to marry her," I repeated.

"Don't talk crazy. I said she was nice, I didn't say I was in love."

"It isn't what you said, Ross. It's the way you said it. You're going to marry that girl."

During the following weeks, every time we talked Ross continued to talk like a man really hooked but not ready to admit he was in love. Ross loved being a bachelor but when that little baby hits you in the ass with that arrow, you just ain't got no say in the matter.

The girl in question was named Olavee Grinrod, and Ross' voice was full of life and his eyes sparkled as he spoke about this lady. He spoke of Olavee with the admiration of a man "in like" with a woman he was falling in love with. When Ross finally brought her to the set, it was easy to see why he had fallen in love with her. She was, and of this writing still is, a beautiful woman but more important, she was and still is, a beautiful person.
